LOVE
CONTEST
What
do you think of when you hear the word “Contest”? Do you think
of two athletes competing for a prize, pushing, shoving, strife &
arguments?
All
of this accurately describes a contest, but what about a contest of
LOVE?
Yes,
you heard correctly! In this contest no one loses - we all come out
the winner!
Where
does this contest take place? It takes place where ever you choose!
It could & should take place in your marriage, your family, in
your friendships, in church, at your place of work & everywhere
else.
You
may ask “What does this contest look like?” Well, I could go on
& on, but it's very simple. It is treating others like you want
to be treated! We like to be treated with patience & kindness.
All of us enjoy an encouraging word or two. We don't like it when
others are rude or unmannerly & it never feels good to hear
someone gossiping about you when they don't think you are around.
This
Love – God's Love – is outlined in 4 verses, 1 Corinthians
13:4-8. God's Word gives us a great picture of how we are to conduct
ourselves in this Love Contest. I encourage you to carefully study
this Love, especially from the Amplified Bible.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5
or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and
it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. 6 It is never glad
about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love
never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures
through every circumstance.

Love will last forever, but prophecy and speaking in unknown
languages and special knowledge will all disappear.
