LOVE CONTEST

What do you think of when you hear the word “Contest”? Do you think of two athletes competing for a prize, pushing, shoving, strife & arguments?

All of this accurately describes a contest, but what about a contest of LOVE?

Yes, you heard correctly! In this contest no one loses - we all come out the winner!

Where does this contest take place? It takes place where ever you choose! It could & should take place in your marriage, your family, in your friendships, in church, at your place of work & everywhere else.

You may ask “What does this contest look like?” Well, I could go on & on, but it's very simple. It is treating others like you want to be treated! We like to be treated with patience & kindness. All of us enjoy an encouraging word or two. We don't like it when others are rude or unmannerly & it never feels good to hear someone gossiping about you when they don't think you are around.

This Love – God's Love – is outlined in 4 verses, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. God's Word gives us a great picture of how we are to conduct ourselves in this Love Contest. I encourage you to carefully study this Love, especially from the Amplified Bible.

Corinthians 13:4-8

4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. 6 It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

8 Love will last forever, but prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will all disappear.

The more I compete in this Love Contest, the more I Win!
